In this interactive workshop experience, your group takes on the role of detectives trying to solve the case- is Marijuana responsible for endangering young people?
Case Closed
“It was very cool to see people get into a role and try to argue the case one way or another. But even better to see the kids doing it instead of adults and them bringing it back to their own conclusions while having fun and connecting.” - Participant
Recommended Grades: 9th-12th
The potential benefits and harms of marijuana continue to be the subject of debate as a political movement to legalize the drug for recreational use spreads across the country. Despite the consensus among health professionals that marijuana poses a threat to the health and wellbeing of young people, they are still confronted with pro marijuana arguments. Case Closed aims to prepare them for this by giving them practice in developing arguments and building evidence to address their peers.
Participants in Case Closed will:
Role play as a team of detectives tasked with building a case and deciding if Marijuana is, in fact, endangering young people
Find clues and uncover evidence about the effects of marijuana use
Debate with their peers using the evidence they find on why marijuana is guilty of endangering young people.
